We are incredibly thankful to the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health for inviting the Fatherhood Network to facilitate a breakout session during this year’s conference themed “From Deep Roots to New Branches.”

It was truly an honor to advocate for the importance of intentionally engaging fathers within the infant and early childhood mental health space through our breakout session, “Fathers as Roots and Wings: Championing Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Across Generations.” The conversation highlighted the powerful role fathers play in supporting maternal wellness, healthy attachment, emotional development, and long-term family well-being across generations.

We were grateful to connect with such an engaging audience of practitioners, advocates, and parents who brought thoughtful insight, meaningful dialogue, and a shared passion for strengthening children and families. Celebrating Black Maternal Health Week 💜

At Fatherhood Network, we recognize that healthy moms and healthy babies are at the foundation of strong families and engaged fathers are essential to that foundation.

Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) is a powerful reminder that outcomes improve when fathers are informed, involved, and empowered throughout the pregnancy and birthing journey. When fathers are present, supported, and equipped, families thrive and communities grow stronger.

We’re proud to uplift opportunities like this important conversation on Engaging Fathers and Beyond, where community members, healthcare professionals, and advocates come together to address barriers and build more inclusive, responsive systems of care.

A special shoutout to Dr. Tasha L. Alston for her leadership and scholarship in advancing the conversation around African American father involvement and its impact on children, families, and communities. Your work continues to inform and inspire meaningful change.

Let’s continue to champion spaces where fathers are not just welcomed but expected, prepared, and valued in the maternal health journey.

We would like to thank the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) and the Department of Health for inviting us to present at the inaugural Pennsylvania Family Leadership Conference.
It’s was a powerful gathering of family leaders, health practitioners, policy makers and advocates pushing for the inclusion of family voices in policy discussions and decision making. Being able to contribute to this conversation was a blessing and we are thankful for the opportunity.
